I’m so excited! I just got selected to host my very first House Party! A House Party is an event in which thousands of every day people (like me) get to host parties across the country, sponsored by a leading brand. These parties are always focused on something cool that that the sponsor wants its best fans to experience firsthand.
I’ll be hosting the DiGiorno Champions House Party on March 20th 2010! What does this mean? Well, House Party will send me a party pack, including a party planner booklet, coupons for DiGiorno Pizza and Breadsticks, as well as great coupons and favors to share with my guests. I get to invite a few of my friends over and we all just have a great time simultaneously with other House Party people across the country. We’ve been looking for an excuse to host a game night at our house and here it is. Yippee!
Here’s where I need your help, readers. I haven’t thrown a party in a little while and I want to make this one extra special. I’d like to hear your ideas for a unique party theme or stand out ideas to incorporate into my party. If I end up using your theme or idea, I’ll be sure to save a coupon and party favor just for you!

Here are some ideas for your party – I'd love to win a coupon and party favor from your house party. My fingers are crossed!
Go with the Italian theme and use the colors of the Italian flag: green, white, and red.
You could easily make flags out of construction paper. The flag is simply a green block, a white block, and then a red block.
If you have a large buffet table, drape that in the colors as well. Buy inexpensive thin plastic tablecloths from the dollar store. They are probably about $1. each. Drape the table in first a green cloth, then a white one, and then a red one, like the flag. Your table will look like the Italian flag.
From the Internet, print some photos of famous Italians. Place their photos in frames you've borrowed for the night from your own family photos. Number the photos and have a contest to "Name the Famous Italians". The person who names the most photos correctly can win a small prize like a bottle of Italian wine, or some Italian cheese.
Borrow some Italian music CDs from your local library and play them quietly in the background for mood music.
For a centerpiece on the buffet table, or on smaller tables, have large clear glass canisters or large clean vases. Serve your breadsticks in those clear vases for an eye-catching display. Tie some red, white, and green ribbons around the neck of the canisters. Use thin ribbons you can get for three rolls for $1. at a craft store. Scatter some interesting shaped dry pasta on the buffet table at the base of the breadstick containers and on the smaller tables if you have them.
Buy your plates, cups, and napkins also at the dollar store in the Italian colors: red, green, and white. For cute-n-easy napkin rings, try this. Take a 6 inch length of left-over yarn in white, red, or green and string interestingly shaped pasta onto the yarn. Fold and roll the paper napkins and tie the yarn with pasta on it around each paper napkin. Make as many napkin rings as you have guests. It is a unique, cheap, and cute napkin ring with an Italian touch.
If you have a television in the room where your party will be held, you might want to get an Italian movie or DVD from your library – maybe a video tour of Italian sights. Place it soundlessly in the background while you have your party.
Have a great party!
