I have heard a lot of people tell me that they do not shop at Publix because they think it’s too expensive. In all honesty, I felt the same exact way before I started couponing. Now, it has become my absolute favorite grocery store! In my opinion, they have the very best sales and the most accommodating coupon policy of all of the grocery stores in this area for 5 reasons:
1. BOGO deals – These deals bring you the best savings by far when coupled coupons. If you missed my previous post on “Why I Love BOGOs,” check it out!
2. Publix stores automatically double any manufacturer’s coupon that is 50¢ or less. I’ve found that even the ones that say “do not double” end up doubling at the register.
3. Most Publix stores accept competitor’s coupons and allow you to stack those with their store coupon and manufacturer’s coupons for extra savings. Note: It is up to the individual store as to whether or not they accept them and which stores they consider competitors. Always check with your store.
4. 3 words- MYSTERY PENNY ITEM! Each week (Sundays and Mondays only) Publix offers an item for just 1¢ with the purchase of $10 or more (before coupons). I’ve gotten some great penny items in the past and I look forward to finding them every week. Stores don’t release what that item is until Sunday, but I’ll post it once I find out.
5. Lastly, Publix is also a participant in the Upromise program which allows you to upload e-coupons to go directly into your college savings account. I’m saving for my kids, but it can be for anyone you like, including yourself. Click here to learn more about Upromise College savings.
On each shopping trip, I am able to rack up on tons of freebies and deals for $1 or less! This is main reason I really enjoy posting the weekly deals at Publix, as it allows you to see, line-by-line, how easy it is to save there. This week, for example, there are a bunch of freebies and deals at Publix. Seeing as how it’s the week before Thanksgiving, I’m definitely going to need to stock up here.
